Remembering when Stephen King tweeted and apologized. . .
The past, present and future demands Americans not be silenced
The kids won’t know what I’m referring to when it’s said: “I sound like a broken record”, but here goes the skip in the groove: Americans are living in the Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone Twilight Zone. . .
The vision of Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 had been forecast accurately into a lawless 2025 wild west. Thank you, U.S. Supreme Court (among others). Nicely done.
One of the most bizarre unfortunate events under this present-day oligarchy that has earned a chapter in the history books took place in September after the horrific murder of right-wing podcaster Charlie Kirk.
“It doesn’t matter what status one holds in life, everyone should use their bravery or tomfoolery to espouse their opinions. The power of a voice should never be dispelled, dismissed or threatened into silence.”
I dredge this up, because some refer to Charlie Kirk as a champion of free speech. Kirk himself often made incendiary comments, blurring the lines on hate speech. For that, he was celebrated. Those in disagreement were silenced.
Thus we commence another Pity Party Committee Meeting (for our paid subscribers) where today we’re serving up a whole platter of Christmas cookies. (I made the snowballs myself!) To celebrate with our Jewish friends, we have Halavah, rugalach (chocolate? cinnamon?) and gilt-wrapped chocolate candies. To liven up the place, we’re serving up eggnog with your choice of Irish whiskey or rum. Now on to the serious business. . .
