I see this image of them run out of town on a rail, that would make a good editorial cartoon. It was an unpleasant punishment, hurt right in the area they seem obsessed with. Looking forward to the conclusion of her involvement in Sarasota schools. I've enjoyed your columns but must say I have felt insulted by you stating "only a high school diploma" more than once. Is that how you discriminate? Some of the dumbest people I've met have college degrees. Also did you use the word missive correctly here? I would argue it's always in written form.
I agree with everything you said. I will correct the missive. It's hard to try to get something out quickly and still have it be decipherable. I repeatedly refer to Bridget as having "only a high school diploma" due to her act of being superior and talking down to people who she can't begin to compete with on an intellectual level. She attempts repeatedly to gaslight people way out of her league. I'll never forget her saying condescendingly to the audience when her Vermilion motion didn't pass: "Change is hard." I think Bridget went to the Alina Habba school of thought, when Habba cited she would rather be pretty than smart. "I can fake being smart." Smart people recognize fools when they hear one. But I will do better. Thank you, Deven.
Never heard of the Alina Habba school of thought. Guess I'm just very lucky I'm pretty and smart..........also very humble........Yes, I'm joking!! :-)
Loved your image for an editorial cartoon. Bubbie has been right on target as she follows the crazy antics of the SRQ school board. I've been attending for 7 years. There are times I don't believe what I'm seeing and hearing. I second your comment re/"only a HS diploma". My favorite story is when my dad, who left school at 13, bested an MIT grad. Too long to write. If you'd like to hear it call me. 941-922-3610
It's still ringing wrong to me even after the explanation. So, you can only act superior IF you have greater than a HS diploma? Who wants to act that way? I don't like it being used like a stigma, sounds elitist no matter what kind of nitwit/gaslight-er she is. I agree she's the worst of the worst. But just say she's a condescending person with an unjustifiable air of superiority. Rhana, can't call as I'm packing for a trip and I've procrastinated but I return Tuesday. I'll call to hear your story
If you had your Master's degree and years of experience, like Brennen Asplen did, then it makes a difference to be fired by someone with Ziegler's educational status. She has helped write laws that put fear in teachers who have teaching degrees. She is their boss. THEY paid their dues. There are idiot politicians who have their degrees from Ivy League schools who aren't as smart as some high school dropouts in realms they haven't studied or just in life's hard knocks. However, walking in the shoes of those that put in the hard work of four years-plus of college and then to be disrespected by a high school graduate, might need reminding of where she stands. In example, it is disrespectful to an attorney, with six years of a higher education, to be ignored in favor of someone who thinks she's better, smarter. . and doesn't need a professional to tweak her words. "I learned something after being on the school board for 10 years," she laughed. Is she comparing being on a school board to law school? If you've learned anything - you know that you go to the ones who are schooled in their field (legal, financial...), so you don't open the district to a lawsuit. I respect your opinion. If Ziegler doesn't cross the line, then I won't have to type "high school graduate only". However, I do like "unjustifiable air of superiority". Thank you for some great feedback.
Seriously, you sound like your man-splaining to me. I know everything she's done and how awful it is for teachers and students but you have doubled down once again with this knowing who to respect crap. I don't like her and I don't like the way you will insist on writing it again if she dares to not acquiesce to the " higher educated". She never will, she's a manipulative, lying human just like Trump - who graduated from Wharton. You can find better words to use than insulting those with" only a HS diploma." To me that's writing in a demeaning way. Like all gay kids aren't as good as straight kids. My mother was an English teacher and State representative . My father an art prof. We were beyond educated. I hope you quit that, I expect more. If you don't feel like you can write without having to go there, you can cancel my subscription. Thanks for your consideration.

Have a safe trip. Hope it's for fun. Look forward to your call. It's a "can't make this stuff up" kind of story.
