Brava! You certainly captured the environment in which our school board meetings exist. As more people wake up to what's happening there are more shoulders at the wheel. A few more and the wheel will turn. BTW the meeting is at 3:00. The workshop is at 10:00
Rhana - I just saw your letter to the Editor as I was going through old newspapers. THANK YOU for everything you do. You're so right about the wheel turning. I completely believe this.
There were 73 speakers at the last meeting. LESS than 10 spoke in favor of the resolution in missives that weren't factual or logical. Clayton Taylor, who spoke in favor of the resolution said: "They believe whatever the students tell them!" Another speaker (Katerina. .) said that transgender students have "gender dysphoria, crave attention and are prone to violence." Yet, we've never heard of a transgender student attacking another student. I'm listening to the medical doctor over Katerina, who explained at the meeting about people being born with the various chromosomes. If you were in an emergency room - who would you trust with your health - Katerina or a medical doctor? Ignorance is not bliss.
There were NOT 1000 emails supporting the resolution. There was a ballpark total of 1,000 emails received by all of the board members. I agree that a public records search would be advisable, so citizens don't think we are such an uneducated, ignorant class of society that voters would approve of a motion written by a high school graduate with no legal experience. This was an errant vote by board members who put the district in the crosshairs of potential lawsuits. I would guess that 5% of constituents liked this resolution, just based on their own inability to process simple information that Federal law trumps State law. When a board attorney advises against it, one must have a different agenda (political) to pass it. Keep the politics out of the schools.
Multiple board members stated that the 1,000 email were in support of the resolution and against boys in girls bathrooms and locker rooms. It appears the number of public responses was very clear to them that more residents want separate bathroom and locker room facilities for boys and girls and they are happy to support them. And, as far as education is concerned, there is only one board member that never attended collage and it is not Ziegler.
Thank you for passing along your beliefs so respectfully. I will ask Steven Walker about doing a public records search on the emails since Title IX came on the schedule. It was rushed through - and forced the Superintendent's hand to sign off on a completely unfounded and unscientific (oy!) paragraph on gender. This is after two Medical Doctors explained why that clause was completely bogus. Ooof!

I wrote my three minutes for tomorrow prior to reading yours. Great minds! Thank you so much for your activism and continuing to educate the public.
Another great read...keep up the fight
You mentioned 25 people. What about the 1,000+ emails in support of the resolution. Anyone do a public records request?
